ABOUT THE YOGA TEACHERS
All of the Shanti Saagar
teachers have trained extensively in various yoga disciplines under the
umbrella of “Hatha Yoga.” Despite variations in style, we
all share a common classical yoga goal of encouraging students to feel
safe and comfortable in their practice. We are experienced yoga
teachers, but, equally important, we are continuing yoga students as
well.
JiJi Beckett has been dancing, practicing yoga,
and experimenting with movement for as long as she can remember. She is
a certified Kripalu yoga teacher as well as a practitioner of Thai Yoga
Bodywork and Reiki.
Rebekah Goldstein-Hawes, a
certified Hatha-yoga teacher who studied yoga in India and New Zealand,
also is a Thai yoga body-worker and is completing Zero Balancing
certification. Rebekah encourages students to increase their strength
and flexibility by assessing and gently moving toward their own limits.
Lucy Jenkins has taught numerous
classes for adults and children in Jefferson County. A certified
Sivananda yoga teacher, Lucy studied in India and in her native
England. She nurtures a living, or organic, style of yoga in her own
practice and in the classes she teaches. Lucy is currently on leave from SS Yoga.
Judy Jenner, RYT500, a certified
Integral Yoga teacher and Thai Yoga body-worker, has studied yoga at
the Satchidananda Ashram, the Kripalu Center, and in India. She strives
to embrace and convey the classical concepts of yoga.
Christa Mastrangelo-Joyce, RYT200, is
a certified Charm City Yoga (Baltimore) teacher. Christa wishes to
share the gifts that she has received from her yoga practice with
others and to encourage practitioners as they find their own path to
inner strength and joy through yoga.
Carla McAdams, RYT500,
encourages students to discover the strength, beauty, and joy of their
inner selves through the practice of yoga. Carla has advanced
certification from Kripalu Center, as well as certifications to teach
prenatal yoga and chakra yoga. Carla’s Mountain Spirit Yoga
studio is in Middletown, Md.
Melanie Sirni, a
practicing registered nurse, has advanced certification as a Yamuna
Body Rolling teacher. She infuses body, mind, and spiritual connections
in her teachings. She also is a practitioner of Anusara yoga, Qi Gong,
and Thai massage.
Dhyana Stiefel,
an Integral Yoga teacher, creates fun yoga classes for students of all
ages and especially enjoys working with beginners. Last year, she
received her certification to practice acupressure from the Acupressure
Institute in California.
