Parking
With continuing parking pressure in Shepherdstown,
we suggest that you allow some extra time to find a parking space prior
to your class. We’ve compiled below a list of options and
steer-clear zones in an attempt to help you find a safe spot.
East New Street, just outside Harmony’s front door:
This area is restricted to one-hour parking, and the time limit is
enforced. You will probably be fine to park there for a one-hour class,
but we suggest parking elsewhere for longer classes.
The gravel lot behind Harmony Healing Arts and Specialty Business Supplies (loading dock area): This area is available for parking ONLY at the following times: for morning classes that end by 8:30 a.m.; for evening classes that begin at 5:30 p.m. or later. Please do not park in this lot at any other time.
East German Street, just across the railroad tracks as you head toward River Road: Parking in front of or across the street from the brick church.
Metered spaces on German Street: Same as always – feed the meters, and leave some time for a short walk to the Center.
Jefferson Security Bank: Ok to park there after 4 p.m.
Gravel lot adjacent to Southern States and RR Tracks: Ok to park there after 5 p.m.
South King Street, just beyond Shepherdstown Post Office: Free and unrestricted; This is a good option, and will give you the benefits of an enlivening pre-class walk as well!
**STEER CLEAR** The gravel lot directly across the street from Harmony, and the paved lots just off E. New Street:
DO NOT park in either of these places at any time. The owner frequently
tows cars from these lots, which are intended for apartment residents
only.
**STEER CLEAR** Shopping center across from Jefferson Security Bank (location of Police Dept., Real Estate, etc.): Please do not park there at any time; the owner will tow.
